March 21

School district leaders from across the region came together in Buffalo on Friday to learn from some of the most influential figures whose impact can be felt throughout WNY. Presented by the WNY Educational Service Council (WNYESC) and Erie-Niagara School Superintendents Association (E-NSSA), “Learning from Other Leaders” brought together superintendents and other administrators from more than 30 school districts with the goal of advancing their leadership abilities with the assistance of local influencers outside the world of K-12 education.

The WNY Educational Service Council (WNYESC) in collaboration with trhe Erie-Niagara School Superintendents Association (E-NSSA) offered the insights around leadership from three regional leaders for reflection and connection with over 40 educators on March 21st.

The most important attribute of effective school leaders is their ability to lead effectively. Speakers included Trina Burruss, President/CEO of the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County; David Egner, President/CEO of the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation; and Dr. Satish Tripathi, President of the University at Buffalo. All three speakers reflected on their own work and experiences at the helm of three large and impactful organizations to offer their thoughts and insights about leadership.

Participating districts included Clarence, Depew, East Aurora, Grand Island, Hamburg, Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda, Lackawanna, Lancaster, West Seneca, Williamsville, and many others across WNY. A key theme resonating throughout- the critical need to focus on your mission and you are trying to achieve in navigating turbulent time.
